Established in April 2014, Nakamura Laboratory conducts various studies with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of ecosystem processes, especially for coastal ecosystems in coral reef areas. Research themes are focused on the monitoring of important ecological and water quality parameters through sensor deployments, remote sensing, and the application of various geochemical techniques. Analyses of field observations are then used to support the development of numerical ecosystem models, which can aid investigations into various phenomena observed in coral reef areas and explore possible future scenarios.
