50 Thai Junior High Students Explore Innovation at Nakamulab

Hi everyone, I’m Dear, a PhD student at NakamuLab. One day, someone asked me, “P-Dear, 50 Thai students want to visit the lab where you study. Would that be possible?” I was a bit surprised by the number, but I thought it would be ok. Later, they told me that these students were from the same high school as me. I felt that this was such a coincidence, and I was excited about the opportunity to encourage their motivation and inspiration to become researchers.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, we had some really special guests – 50 Thai junior high school students! They came all the way from Sattriwitthaya 2 School (my old high school back in Thailand) to explore the fascinating world of science and engineering. They are part of The Special Program in Mathematics and Science, and it was amazing to see their curiosity in action.

On the day of the visit, we split the students into two groups. One group headed to the South 6 building to check out a coral experiment led by Kawakami-san and Armando-san, while the other group went to our main room to catch a presentation by Ahmed-san and me. They also toured the downstairs area where Yuta-san explained a chemical experiment and conducted a field survey session.

As a senpai who graduated from the same high school, I was excited to support them on their journey. It was a fantastic opportunity to share my experiences from studying in three different countries, and I really hope they find success and good luck in all their future efforts.

I’d like to extend a special thanks to Nakamura Sensei for making this event possible, and to Ahmed-san, Kawakami-san, Armando-san, and Yuta-san for warmly welcoming the student group. It was such a wonderful opportunity and a lot of fun. Thank you!
